3ra’fique communications in partnership with Africa’s ace veteran comedian Alibaba, GCFR is set to hold the 3rd edition of its Join Cast Malaria Football Initiative on the 25th of October 2015 at the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos Island, by 2pm.

The initiative will feature a cast of Comedians such as Chigul, BasorgeTariahjr., Tee A, AY, Owen Gee, Omobaba, and many more squaring off against team of media personalities including Frank Edoho, Yaw, Mannie, Oscar Oyinsan, Femi and the Gang, Jimmie, Patrick, Doyle and a host of others.

Irabor Okosun, CEO, 3ra’fique Communcations mentioned that the project which is carried out through its Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, arm ‘Join the Cast’ is part of the organisation’s contribution to the United Nation’s campaign against the scourge of malaria. He stated that the fight against malaria will continue, as well as the drive to enlist the support and commitment of stakeholders from all sectors in this determined campaign for malaria awareness.

He further stressed on the importance of sensitizing people about the Malaria pandemic and how this disease can be curbed and eradicated from our society. “We will keep on creating, exploring, employing and leveraging effective platforms to help us achieve this as well as the other Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs.

Speaking on the project, Alibaba, said: “Our aim for malaria initiative is to mobilize communities against malaria and increase sensitization at the grass-root level. This deadly disease, if not properly diagnosed, can kill within 24 hours of first symptoms”. He explained that over 600,000 people die from the pandemiceach year and 86% of which are children under the age of 5. Alibaba stated that the fight against malaria is collective and he implore Nigerians, Africa and the world to join in this fight by coming out to always participate and support the initiative.

The project which is FREE to the general public is designed to educate, entertain, and empower everyone with unique up-to-date methods for preventing and curing Malaria by leveraging the convening power of football and entertainment. During the event, there will be FREE Rapid Diagnostic Testing, RDT, FREE Artemisilin-based Combination Therapy, ACT, treatments, and distribution of long-lasting insecticide treated bed nets and insecticides. All technical services are handled by certified health workers and medical professionals from Society for Family Health and Society for Support and Welfare of the Underprevileged.

Aside the novelty football match platform, monthly outreach programmes are also carried out in rural areas, markets and schools to further maximize the facilitation of these health activities.
