Amaka Ambrose… An african lioness that empowers women world wide

businessday-icon

Today, I have on my empowerment and intellectual radar, a very brave african woman who changes lives positively and has been adding value to the lives of women  where ever she finds herself in the world.

Nigerian born  Amaka Ambrose is one lady i have been following for years in her quiet and humble service to the women/youths. This charming and intelligent young lady has been doing her thing quietly using what ever  little resources she can afford to empower and protect the image of women not just in Africa but  the world in general.  She is not such women that loves to show off her colorful feathers like a peacock but rather, her concern and mission in life is to ensure that no day passes without her ‘adding value to the lives of not just women but people around her’.

She is one Nigerian woman that has so much focus on what ever she has put her mind to achieve and that is part of her message to women all over the world – to be focus in life and never relent in pursuing their dreams and aspirations. She use her career as a business/life coach to teach  women how to be self reliant in an socio-economically challenged environment like Nigeria and other countries in Africa.

Amaka has a yearly economic empowerment charity project where she seeks material and cash donations form the public and distribute them to poor single mothers/street –abandoned  female youths to start small business/trading. She also organize regular  free counseling seminars  for  female singles and educate them on how to make the best of their single period, be productive while they wait for marriage to happen.  In Nigeria most females get so desperate for marriage that they forget there is life without  marriage and that after marriage life must continue. Most African singles feel marriage will give them the  good life they desire and all they do is to sit idle waitng for a rich man to come nd solve their financial problems but most of them get disappointed after they get married and their life makes no sense to them.   She sponsors  this huge project soley on her own with her resources and her aim is to ensure that every year, up to 10 or more poor single mothers/youths achive something and have a means of survival( depending on the amount of resource she has).  This year activity will be coming up in june 2016 and presently , she has started her campaign  to seek donations for her benefactors.  What a brave woman …if you ask me.

They say –a prophet is never recognized in her town. Amaka in her quiet  women empowerment activities is being appreciated and recognized mostly by those outside Nigeria who sees what a brave, courageous as well as intelligent woman  she is.  She has been interviewed by several foriegn TV and Radio Host and her several interviews by  a San Anthonio Texas based, Emily Award Radio show host and business coach featured  regularly over the years on Raven International Network United States of America. These foriegners see her potentials, Talents  and selfless work for humanity and are delighted to associate with her in what she do for mankind and Africa as a continent where the rightful voice of a woman is stiffled.

She is not bothered though about the Nigeria society recognizing their talented women because she feels our society is manipulated and ruled by so much greed for materialistic style of living. In Nigeria, people tend to worship and talk only about people they can benfit cash and material gifts from and hardly focus on numerous humble Nigeria women all over our states who are doing great jobs in their own pace.  How many times have you read, watch on Tv about a great teacher doing a good teaching job in one local community in Nigeria?  When last did you see a popular magazine or newsprint talk about one woman who dedicate her time to cleaning the church day after day without asking for salary from the church?    No one talks about such people because they do not ride poshe, ferrari and live in expensive apartments, travel and do frequent shopping abroad.   Can you image a newspaper talking about shopping spree of just one woman in different parts of the world week after week?  What she wears to this and that party?  Her latest  lover ‘s tatoo…?   Her birthday bash in a foriegn country?  Meanwhile if you go to such person’s village, the people there has no pipe borne water to drink and good roads.   That is Nigeria attitude for you and it is this same materialistic style of living that has crippled our economy today because every leader wants to acquire much wealth meant for others so that people can worship him/her for ever.     Till Nigerians learn to value people who do not display wealth and materialism and look for credible men and women who can render selfless service to our citizens, we continue to have corrupt leaders in this country.

There are lots of women in Nigeria like Amaka Ambrose who are doing great job in this country but no one recognizes them.  Meanwhile, women day after day keep shouting about gender equity for Nigeria women. Like i keep saying when issues of gender equity comes up, the Nigeria women must put their acts together among them first…learn how to support and empower each other  in a genuine and selfless manner, then they can have one voice to speak for women equity in Nigeria.

Our women law makers must search for intelligent, focused women in their community/villages who can perform and bring them out to the fore and support them.  Women meetings and conventions must not be among the elites alone.  Most times, all these affluent women do during conventions is to display their wealth and latest fashions.    At the end they go home envying each other.  Ask them what they achieve at each women convention for the sake of other women?    Big long English!!…Nothing!!

I am so happy i have Amaka Ambrose in my page today and i am so proud of her selfless services in doing her own little part with all humility, to save the lives of African women and give them better life and a voice  where ever she goes.
