Why we would recall Cross Rivers lawmakers – Group

Governor Ben Ayade

A socio-political group under the aegis of Concerned Patriot has pledged to recall all National Assembly members from Cross River State extraction if they make bold their threat to undermine Governor Ben Ayade, who is the leader of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state by creating a parallel structure in the state.

Addressing journalists at the Ernest Etim Bassey Press Centre weekend, leader of the group, Jake Otu Enyia, said undermining the governor by whatsoever means as they were currently doing by procuring congresses forms and preparing a list in all wards, chapters and state was indeed undermining us all and impugning on the sensibilities of our people.

There is no contention between the governor and the National Assembly members, hence whatever modus employed by the National Assembly members will lead to an exercise in futility, Enyia said.

Also speaking, Itaya Asuquo Nyong, a member of the group, said it was indeed strange that the age-long golden rule of respect on the driver’s seat in the affairs of the state to led and direct the order of things should suddenly be deprived from discharging such functions that were conferred on him by virtue this sacred office.

More so, he said the National Assembly members had vowed to create seeming conflict in the forth-coming PDP congresses in Cross River State by separately and collectively putting out parallel executive committee structures at all levels.

“We make bold to state that they were laid down processes and procedures by the PDP for the determination of candidates for local government council elections of March 2020, which were carefully followed,” he said.

On their part, Effiom Edem Okokon and Mfon Bassey both said, ‘’Our National Assembly members who are presently heating up the polity with their ambition should note that Cross River State Government House is not for sale and indeed for the highest bidder”.
