Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has emerged as the governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Katsina State for a second-term bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The affirmation exercise took place on Thursday at the People’s Square in Katsina, where party supporters and loyalists converged as early as 8 a.m. under a peaceful atmosphere just as it conducted in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act and the APC’s internal guidelines, attracted party leaders, stakeholders, delegates and supporters from across the state.
Yakubu Maccido Ahmed, the chairman of the APC Electoral Committee from the party’s National Headquarters, who supervised the exercise, announced that Governor Radda secured overwhelming endorsement through a voice vote by 1,805 delegates and party supporters.
“The affirmation followed a unanimous agreement among stakeholders in the state,” he said.

He stated that the outcome reflected the collective resolve of party members to maintain unity and strengthen the party ahead of the next general elections.
“This outcome reflects the collective will of party leaders and members across Katsina State. It demonstrates the APC’s commitment to unity, internal cohesion and strategic alignment ahead of the 2027 general elections,” he stated.
Ahmed further commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise, noting that Katsina State distinguished itself from other states where the process was characterised by tension and disagreements.
“While some states experienced tension during the process, Katsina distinguished itself through unity, discipline and effective leadership under Governor Radda,” he said.
The affirmation is expected to consolidate Governor Radda’s position within the party as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 governorship election in the state.
