The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday afternoon issued certificates of return to governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state and his deputy as well as all the members elect for the state House of Assembly.
The national commissioner in charge of Benue, Enugu and Anambra, Festus Okoye, who issued the certificates congratulated the people and said that the action was in compliance with the requirement of the law.
Festus urged the elected members to compensate the people for their matured conduct throughout the exercise by fulfilling all their campaign promises.
“Gentlemen. This is one of the cardinal components of this exercise, in compliance with the requirement of the law. Let me first of all congratulate all of you for your victory at the polls. Let me also congratulate the people of the state for matured conduct and for remaining resilient despite the electoral challenges.
“I call on you the leaders elect to fulfill the campaign promises to compensate for the support gotten from the people”.
