The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria for a single four-year term.
The decision was reached at the party’s maiden national convention, where a motion moved by a member of the House of Representatives representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency of Anambra State, Afam Victor Ogene, was unanimously adopted by delegates.
The party also resolved that after the expiration of the single term, the presidential ticket would automatically revert to Northern Nigeria.
The development is expected to strengthen the chances of Peter Obi, former Anambra State governor,, and other southern aspirants seeking the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general election.
