Ibrahim Kashim, former Bauchi State Secretary to the State Government, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general elections through a consensus arrangement.

The announcement was made on Friday in Bauchi by Paul Daniel, who chaired the party’s governorship primary electoral committee.

According to Daniel, Kashim’s emergence followed extensive consultations among party stakeholders and other aspirants, with the consensus process reflecting the party’s commitment to unity and internal cohesion.

“With this development, Ibrahim Kashim has officially become the NDC governorship candidate for Bauchi State ahead of the 2027 elections,” he stated.

The Bauchi State Chairman of the NDC, Abdullahi Maigari, said the party was witnessing growing acceptance across the state and described it as one of the few political platforms operating without significant internal disputes.

Maigari expressed confidence in Kashim’s capacity to address Bauchi State’s socio-economic challenges, citing his experience in public service and politics.

In his acceptance speech, Kashim thanked party leaders, delegates, and supporters for the confidence placed in him and pledged to focus on key sectors including education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and transparent governance if elected governor.

He also urged residents and party members to rally behind the NDC’s vision as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.

Kashim’s emergence adds to the growing list of candidates being unveiled by political parties across the country as the race for the 2027 general elections gathers momentum.
