Former Presidential Candidate, Olapade Agoro is Dead

A former presidential candidate of the National Action Council (NAC), Olapade Agoro is dead. The Itapa-Ijesha Politician cum Prophet who was also a Royal father died at the age of 77.

The news of his death was announced early Sunday morning by his daughter Adeola Agoro on her Facebook page.

According to Adeola, Oapade Agoro we are calling you but you’re not answering again.Ha! We said we loved you but you refused to listen.

You have left us like that. It’s not okay o. It’s just not okay.

But as you have gone to be with your mother Dorcas Oyejola Asabi, I won’t talk yet.“But this is not fair on me.

Baba Deola, you should have looked back a little now….Ha death you’re wicked!”

In 2003 and 2007, Olapade Agoro contested for the Presidential race against Olusegun Obasanjo President Muhammadu Buhari and Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the Ikemba of Nnewi now of blessed memory.

Agoro who was installed the Owa ‘Tapa of Itapa-Ijesha, an Obaship Traditional title in 1982, became the National Chairman, Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) in July 2006

Recently, he has been drumming up support for the presidential ambition of Bola Tinubu, National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 presidential election.

He is the originator of several concepts and policies which were adopted by the Nigerian government.

In 1974, he pioneered the Road Safety concept in Nigeria, got the concept promoted and accepted by the Federal Ministry of Works. This was later expanded to Black Africa at large.

in 1976, he pioneered and introduced Plastic ID Cards to the Nigerian market. This was also extended to the existing tertiary institutions from Ibadan to the Northern and Eastern parts of Nigeria including the then young establishment of national Youth Service Corps (NYSC), University of Ibadan, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, University of Nigeria Nsukka etc.
