…Ex-Reps members, Amaechi allies vie for ADC guber ticket in Rivers

Asita Honourable and Sokonte Davies, former House of Representatives members, along with six others, have indicated interest in vying for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial ticket in Rivers State.

Asita and Davies are known allies of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation.

“The six others include Gabriel Pidomson, former Secretary to the State Government, Henry Arinze Ugboma, professor of maternal-fetal medicine, and four more individuals.

Chukwudi Dimkpa, ADC chairman-elect, made this known in a statement issued in Port Harcourt.

He said those who have so far shown a willingness to contest for the state governorship include former public office holders, technocrats, accomplished professionals, and respected private sector operators.

Dimkpa added that several respected individuals from the state who are qualified have also expressed interest in contesting for the Senate, House of Representatives, and state Assembly positions across the state.

He said the development sends a clear message that ADC is no longer viewed as an alternative party, but one to beat.

BusinessDay gathered that aspirants for the governorship ticket include: Sokonte Davies, Gabriel Pidomson, Henry Arinze Ugboma, Asita Honourable Asita, Leloonu Nwibubasa, Tele Bertram Ikuru, Tom Bertram Inko-Tariah and Miller Sampson.

Davies represented Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and later served as Executive Director at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), while Asita, a two-term House of Representatives member, chaired the Governing Board of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
