Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has launched the Tinubu Torchbearers (TTB), a political mobilisation platform designed to strengthen grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu and the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda ahead of the 2027 elections.

The initiative was unveiled on Wednesday at the Old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where women leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gathered from across the country.

BusinessDay reports that President Tinubu had secured the APC ticket for a second term and would have to contend with candiates of the opposition parties on January 16, 2027, slated for presidential poll.

Addressing participants, the First Lady urged women to become active ambassadors of the administration’s policies and achievements, stressing that their influence at the grassroots would be crucial in shaping public perception of government reforms.

She described women as the backbone of community mobilisation and charged members of the new group to take the message of the Renewed Hope agenda to every ward and polling unit nationwide.

According to her, reforms being implemented in agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare, education, security and job creation require sustained public engagement to ensure citizens understand and benefit from them.

In a move aimed at strengthening grassroots political activities, Mrs Tinubu announced the donation of personal vehicles to APC women leaders in Abia, Anambra, Bauchi, Osun and Oyo states, clarifying that the vehicles would belong to the beneficiaries and not the party.

Speaking at the event, APC National Women Leader, Mary Alile Idele, said the TTB would drive advocacy, voter education and civic engagement across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.
