Ex-chief judge of Anambra calls for Igbo presidency

Ex-chief judge of Anambra calls for Igbo presidency
Peter Umeadi, the immediate past Chief Judge of Anambra State, has called for the Nigeria’s presidency position for eight years from Igbo extraction to solve the nation’s socio-political impasse.
Umeadi, who is currently a Professor of Law at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, said the Igbos had contributed immensely to deserve the position other ethnicity had presently and in the past enjoyed.
The Igbos has contributed to the development of country and will continue doing so, in spite of the obvious marginalization and suffering within the Nigerian federation,’’ he said.
The retired Chief Judge gave this assertion during his reception into a political party, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) at his hometown in Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area of the state.
He called on the Igbo elders and other well-meaning Nigerians to champion Igbo course and work unanimously to produce a presidency from Igboland.
He said his joining APGA was to identify with the progress recorded so far by Governor Willie Obiano-led administration in the state.
He commended Obiano for judiciously piloting the affairs of the state, especially in the payment of workers salary and general welfare of the masses.
He described the game of politics as a venture and vocation, in which the goal of every player must be the upliftment of human dignity, saying, “Politics should not be seen as a do or die affair.”
Also speaking, the APGA chairman in Nri Ward One, Austin Igwebuike and the special assistant to the Governor on Events, Anthony Udorji, expressed their joy, saying the retired Chief Judge’s wealth of experience in law and justice would help boost the fortunes of the party in future.
The event, which attracted many political stalwarts, climaxed with the formal registration and presentation of party card to Umeadi.
