The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC is expecting consensus list of aspirants contesting for various posts at the Saturday scheduled National Convention on Friday.

This is as about 45 aspirants have been cleared by the Screening and Appeals Sub Committees of the National Convention.

In a bid to reduce the number of aspirants for a rancour and hitch free convention, APC Governors met Wednesday night and decided that meetings be held with the aspirants at zonal levels to work out consensus arrangements.

Abubakar Badaru, Chairman of APC National Convention Committee told journalists after the meeting held at Imo State Governor’s Lodge, Abuja that the governors agreed to meet with aspirants at zonal level to reduce the number through consensus.

Badaru who denied the existence of already developed consensus or unity list said that the consensuses must be reached latest Friday as the convention holds Saturday.

“We asked the governors to meet at the zonal level with the aspirants to see if we can reduce the number of people for the elections by consensus and it was agreed by all parties but no list has been developed yet.

“In some places we have eight persons contesting for an election. There are some that we have four, five. There are some that we have two.

“So we will discuss with those that have two, to see if we can have some agreement for one to go unopposed and where they do not agree, then we will go to ballot boxes”, the APC National Convention Chairman stated.
