Bamidele condemns killings of Ekiti monarchs, urges security agencies to rescue abducted pupils

Bamidele Michael Opeyemi, the senate leader, has urged security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the killings of the Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola.

He also condemned the kidnapping of pupils and teachers from a private school in Emure Ekiti, demanding swift action from security forces to secure their release.

Armed assailants ambushed and killed the Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti during their return from a meeting. The Alara of Ara-Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, narrowly escaped the attack.

Bamidele, a senator representing Ekiti at the Nigerian Senate, expressed condolences to the affected communities and pledged to collaborate with Ekiti State governor, Biodun Oyebanji, to bolster security measures through legislation.

He denounced the heartless abduction of school children, vowing that the kidnappers must face justice once apprehended.

Bamidele promised to stay updated with Oyebanji until all the children are safely rescued, emphasising the importance of collective efforts to ensure their prompt return to their families.

He underscored the importance of protecting traditional institutions and pledged the National Assembly’s commitment to partnering with the Ekiti state government to enact laws that enhance security across the state.

Bamidele called upon all security agencies in Ekiti to collaborate in apprehending the perpetrators of the royal killings and rescuing the abducted students and teachers.

“I therefore call on all security agencies in the state to work together and fish out the killers of two traditional rulers and rescue all the abducted pupils and teachers,” he said.
