The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following his resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing his political moves as driven by a quest for an “easy” presidential ticket.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, in a post on X on Sunday, labelled Obi a “political rolling stone,” accusing him of switching parties in search of a favourable path to power.
“Peter Obi, a political rolling stone that gathers no moss… roaming again in search of free, uncontested, unchallenged presidential ticket… never willing to remain to build any party,” Morka wrote.
Obi had earlier announced his exit from the ADC, citing persistent internal crises and what he termed a toxic political environment within the party.
In a statement on Sunday, Obi said his decision followed careful reflection on ongoing disputes that, according to him, have distracted the party from addressing pressing national issues.
He clarified that his departure was not borne out of personal disagreements with party leaders, including former Senate President David Mark and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, whom he said he continues to respect.
However, Morka said Obi prefers political platforms where he can secure tickets without internal competition.
“He fantasises to be president on a ticket delivered only on a platter of gold… APGA – PDP – LP – ADC on to NDC,” he added, describing the former Anambra State governor as a “political drifter.”
