APC accuses Taraba governor of distributing arms, ammunition

The All Progressives Congress APC, in Taraba state have accused the state governor Darius Dickson Ishaku, of distributing arms and ammunition to thugs across the state that were used in the attack against the https://businessday.ng/ng-election/article/restore-nigeria-with-your-votes-in-2019-secondus/ to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago Alh Hassan Ardo Jika and the governorship candidate of the party Alh Sani Abubakar Danladi on Thursday in Wukari.

The Director General of the APC governorship campaign in the state and President of Trade Union Congress TUC Mr Boboi Bala Kaigama, who made the accusations at a Press briefing in Jalingo said that the hoodlums who are known members of the People’s Democratic Party PDP meant to eliminate the APC candidate.

Kaigama alleged that the governor has gone round the state distributing arms to thugs ahead of the general election and called on the members of the party across the state to remain law abiding and to exercise restraint even in the face of provocation while ensuring that they spoke through their PVCs during the polls.

“Ladies and gentlemen. Let me first of all say that as a political party, we strongly condemn the attempt to assassinate our governorship candidate and other members of his entourage by PDP paid and armed youths in Wukari on Thursday. It is despicable that the Taraba state government has resorted to this level of desperation to unleash terror on his opposition and sponsor violence against the same people he is supposed to protect. The office of the governor is too sacrosanct to be reduced to this ridicule.

“We are aware that the governor has used his immunity to distribute arms and ammunitions across the state to arm youths ahead of the general election. This is pitiable. These arms were used by youths who attacked our convoy in Wukari on Thursday in a bid to eliminate our governorship candidate.

“Let me use this opportunity to call on all our supporters across the state to remain calm and exercise restraints while allowing security agencies to do the needful. Let your PVCs speak for you at the polls” Kaigama said.

In a swift reaction today, governor Darius Ishaku has described the allegations by the APC as callous and part of a well orchestrated plan by the APC to disrupt the forthcoming general election.

Gov Ishaku who spoke through his commission of information Mr Inusa Dogari said that “governor Ishaku was personally unhappy about the unfortunate events in Wukari and condemns it in strongest terms. He calls on politicians in the state to embrace peace and shun violence as they move round the state for their campaign.”

Dogari said that the governor was peace loving person and would never deteriorate to the extent of unleashing terror on his subjects irrespective of ethno religious and political affiliation.
