APC accredits delegates at ICC, journalists stranded as committees disagree

APC kicks as INEC lists PDP chiefs’ hotels in Rivers as collation centres

Delegates to the All Progressives Congress (APC) special convention for the election of presidential candidate for the 2023 general election are being accredited at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja.

The delegates who are conveyed to the accreditation venue in designated buses are expected to proceed to the Eagle Square where the exercise is taking place.

On the other hand, journalists both within and outside Abuja who planned to cover the event are currently stranded as they could not access Eagle for their work as they await the arrival of their accreditation tags.

APC had asked media organisations to apply for their staff who would be covering the convention other than those assigned to the party.

But, the governor Abdullahi Sule led media and publicity committee of the convention was not able to issue the accreditation tags after 12 pm.

Journalists covering the party who are to collect the tags for onward delivery to their colleagues were asked to go to Rayfield Hotel in the Asokoro district of Abuja as at 9am.

On arrival and after waiting for hours, a member of the committee handling the accreditation said the delegates accreditation committee chaired by Dapo Abiodun, Ogun state governor has taken over the accreditation of journalists as well.

While members of the APC correspondents were on their way to ICC, they were called to come back to the Rayfield Hotel for the collection of tags.

At the time of this report, journalists were still waiting for the issues of the accreditation tags amidst tense anxiety.
