In what aims at further drumming support for Akin Ambode, Lagos candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in April 11, gubernatorial poll, a group is embarking on a road show that would cut across the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas of the state. Known as ‘Support Group for Ambode 2015’, the group was seen Wednesday with over 40-vehicle convoy of jubilant members canvassing the support of residents along 21 major streets in Ikeja, the state capital. The group is led by Demola Seriki, former minister of state for Defence.

The flag off edition in Ikeja took off from Adeni- yi-Jones and went through Surulere, Acme Road, Met- al Box, Wempco, Jagun, Ogunnusi, Lateef Jakande to Obafemi Awolowo. The support group stopped at the retail mar- kets at Ogba, Ojodu, Alade and mechanic villages on Lateef Jakande and Oregun roads to pay homage to the shop owners and fraternise with their leaders. The members got off the vehicles to distribute fliers and gifts as crowd of residents scrambled for the gifts and joined in the dancing and singing that attended the occasion. Seriki said the road show would enable the support group for Ambode 2015, remind Lagosians of the legacies of the current administration in Lagos. “All Lagosians need to do is to ask themselves if they will like to be governed by a party that has failed to deliver on the most critical duty of the government- security.

If the APC administration of Lagos State had left the state to the security policies of the Federal Government, life would have become difficult for Lagosians. Through the Lagos State Security Fund and direct government assistance, the Lagos State administration of Governor Babatunde Fashola has committed billions of naira to keep the lives and properties of Lagosians safe. Indeed, without these measures, the boom in the hotels and hospitality business which provides the habitat for arts, music and leisure would have collapsed. This is what Akinwunmi Ambode seeks to consolidate a Lagos safe for you and me,” he said.
