Rotimi Amaechi, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, on Thursday held a closed-door meeting with former Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal in Abuja.
Although details of the meeting were not disclosed, it came amid intensified political consultations within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting followed the upload of the names of the ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Amaechi, on the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as part of preparations for the 2027 polls.
Amaechi was recently unveiled by the ADC as Atiku’s running mate, completing the party’s presidential ticket for the election.
Thursday’s meeting also came shortly after a Federal High Court in Abuja affirmed the leadership of former Senate President David Mark as National Chairman of the ADC.
While neither Amaechi nor Tambuwal disclosed the outcome of the talks, the meeting is widely viewed as part of the ADC’s ongoing consultations and coalition-building efforts aimed at strengthening the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
