Terver Shirsha Atsar, African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain in the Kwande geopolitical area of Benue state, has called on party faithful to remain calm despite recent defections to other parties in some states.

Atsar assured supporters that the ADC remains strong, united, and well-positioned to win elections in the coming cycle. He stressed that temporary political movements should not shake the confidence of committed members.

Speaking to the Business Day political desk, Atsar, House of Representatives aspirant for the Kwande/Ushongo federal constituency and a chieftaincy title holder in Mbakever, Mbagwaza, Ushongo local government, explained that the ADC has emerged as a credible, people-focused alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and other established parties.

He noted that the party is driven by a clear vision of inclusive governance, accountability, and sustainable development. Atsar emphasised that the ADC will not be distracted by what he described as political adventurism.

“Defections are part of the democratic process,” Atsar said, “but they do not define the strength or future of a movement built on genuine ideals.” He said the focus remains on building a formidable structure, engaging the grassroots, and presenting practical solutions to the challenges facing the people.

He urged party members and supporters across Kwande and Ushongo to stay united, deepen grassroots mobilisation, and continue to believe in the vision of the ADC. Atsar concluded that while the task ahead is great, collective effort will deliver purposeful representation and meaningful development to the constituency.
