A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), James Faleke, has obtained the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms for President Bola Tinubu, formally signalling the start of his re-election bid ahead of the 2027 presidential poll.

Faleke, who represents Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and is founder of the Tinubu Support Groups, received the forms on Tuesday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.

Presenting the documents, the APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, declared the process open, marking a key step in the party’s preparations for its presidential primary slated for May 23.

The forms, which cost N100 million, were purchased and submitted by Faleke on behalf of the President.

The development came as political parties intensify activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, January 16, 2027, for the presidential and National Assembly elections, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly polls are scheduled for February 6, 2027.

INEC also announced that party primaries, including the resolution of disputes arising from them, will hold between April 23 and May 30, 2026.

Campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections are expected to commence on August 19, 2026, while those for governorship and state assembly contests will begin on September 9, 2026.
