Mustapha Bala Dawaki, the former Chief of Staff to the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, has officially defected to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mustapha Bala Dawaki also known as Mai Gidan Ruwa, a former House of Representatives member for Dawakin Kudu/Warawa.

He served as Chief of Staff to the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda.

The defection followed his loss of the 2027 APC ticket due to a consensus arrangement.

On May 25, 2026, he joined the NDC at the Kano residence of its leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, with the move confirmed by Kwankwaso’s media aide.
