Sam Amadi, former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, has predicted that the 2027 presidential election will likely be won by either the ruling All Progressives Congress or the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
Amadi made the assertion in a series of posts on X, where he dismissed the prospects of the African Democratic Congress emerging victorious in the next presidential contest.
According to him, the political landscape is increasingly shaping into a contest between the incumbent ruling party and the opposition platform led by former Anambra State governor and NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
“In my view, only two parties can win: the ruling party or the one with Peter Obi; the ruling party and the alternative. So far, ADC is a mini-APC,” Amadi wrote.
He further suggested that legal challenges could potentially affect the ADC’s participation in the 2027 election, warning party members not to underestimate the impact of litigation on electoral outcomes.
“Will ADC be on the ballot? In Nigeria, don’t underestimate the power of a silly suit. For now, ADC members should worry,” he added.
Amadi’s comments come amid increasing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with major parties intensifying efforts to strengthen their structures and expand their support bases nationwide.
The APC recently concluded its presidential primary, producing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its candidate, while the NDC ratified Peter Obi as its presidential flagbearer.
The ADC has also continued efforts to position itself as a major opposition force, although questions remain about its electoral strength and ability to challenge the country’s dominant political blocs.
Political observers note that while forecasts and endorsements are becoming more common as preparations for 2027 gather momentum, the electoral landscape remains fluid and could change significantly before Nigerians head to the polls.
