The Senate will commence debate on the militarization of the 2019 General Elections by next week.
This followed a motion moved by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory, Dino Melaye (PDP, Kogi) at Wednesday plenary.
According to him, his decision to bring up the matter up for debate was for the sake of posterity.
However, the upper legislative chamber was divided along party lines after his submission. While PDP senators insisted that the matter should be debated, APC lawmakers kicked against it.
In his ruling, Senate President Bukola Saraki who presided over the session, said the motion would be debated by next week.
