INEC addressing pockets of late arrival of personnel, materials in some Lagos PUs—Spokeman

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State says it has obtained reports of pockets of delay in the arrival of personnel and materials in some polling units.

INEC Spokesman, Femi Akinbiyi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the commission had got the report through its situation room and were addressing them.

Akinbiyi assured all eligible voters that would be on queue on or before 2 p.m. of the opportunity to cast their vote anywhere there were challenges.

“No voter should exercise fear at all. We have been addressing some of this issues as we get them through our situation rooms. Some of the challenges are beyond our control.

“We assure all voters that everybody that will be on queue by 2 p.m. will be allowed to vote,” Akinbiyi said.

NAN reports that accreditation and voting could not start at 8:00am in some polling units in Lagos Mainland, Lekki-Ajah, among others.

However, the exercise was ongoing peaceful with impressive voter turnout at Polling Unit 009 of Ward 09, St Agnes Primary School, Alagomeji in Yaba.
