Oby Ezekwesili, the Presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party Nigeria (ACPN), has promised to lift eighty million Nigerians out of poverty if voted into power in the forthcoming election.
Ezekwesili, a former Minister of education and Solid Minerals, under the Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, stated this Monday, during a meeting with stakeholders of the ACPN and the media in Yaba, Lagos.
She lamented the high poverty rate among Nigerians in spite of the abundant resources of the country, promising that her administration would invest in human capital development and empower the youths.
Ezekwesili further promised to diversify the economy of the country and partner with the private sector to provide an effective road map and efficiency for service delivery and policy implementation if elected into office.
According to her, “we would not be the type of leaders that would focus only on crude oil, and when crude oil price goes down you would be held back. Look at the Niger-delta, in spite of the abundant of crude-oil, the people of the South-south there have not been improvement in their lives, if it was only oil Nigeria would have developed by now,” she said.
Speaking further, the ACPN presidential candidate urged Nigerians to vote out corrupt leaders in the country, who, according to her, were responsible for the nation’s woes.
Ezekwesili thereafter visited some markets across Yaba in Lagos State, in which she campaigned and solicited the market women and leaders’ support toward her presidential bid.
