Following the postponement of the 2019 presidential election scheduled for 16th February, the Nigerian Government has ordered the reopening of all the land borders across the country.
BusinessDay recalls that the Federal government had on Thursday, 14 February, ,ordered the closure of all land borders till 12:00 noon of Sunday, 17 February.
The Comptroller General of Immigration(CGI) Babandede Mohammed in a statement said, the directive was given by the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahaman Dambazau.
According to the CGI,”The Honourable Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. (rtd) Abdulrahman Bello Dambazauu CFR PhD has ordered the reopening of all the land Borders earlier closed due to the postponement of the elections earlier scheduled for 16′” February, 2019.
“The Nigeria Immigration Officers will continue their normal border control and patrol duties to ensure that all persons crossing our land, cur and sea borders travel with a valid and genuine document and also pass through recognized routes”.
