Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari leads his main challenger Atiku Abubakar by 14 million votes to 10.5 million.
Buhari’s push for a second four-year term strengthened late Tuesday as he has now opened a 3.5 million margin between himself and Atiku.
That implies a 55% vs 41% margin with just three states to go. The remaining states are Rivers, Zamfara and Kebbi. Results are expected Wednesday.
Stocks fell 0.7 percent while bond yields climbed Tuesday as it became clearer that Buhari is set to win Africa’s biggest democratic exercise.
