Benue Police Command Assures Security For The Supplementary Elections
The police commissioner of  Benue command, Um Muri assured the people of the state of the command’s total commitment towards a Violence free and fair elections in the forthcoming Supplementary elections scheduled by the independent National Electoral Commission INEC, to hold on Saturday 23rd March 2019 in the state.
The police commissioner of Benue state command made this known on Thursday while briefing the media in his office at the police headquarters in Makurdi Benue state capital.
The commissioner explained that all the routes and flash points within the state are fortified with sufficient patrol teams to protect electorates, electoral materials and INEC staff and as well as polling units, collation centers and INEC offices. The command calls on parents, Religious leaders and traditional rulers to prevail on their children and subjects not to allow themselves to be used to disrupt the electoral processes. He emphasized.
Muri who warned all intending violators of electoral process, advised Voters to come out with out any fear of harassment or intimidation and exercise their franchise while conducting themselves in accordance with the Nigerian laws, particularly, the electoral Act. He stated.
He stressed that there will be restriction of movement of persons and vehicles in all parts of the state from 7:00am – 4:00pm on Saturday during the re- run.
He emphasized that breaches or violations of some of these provisions often attract penalties, which on Conviction maybe a fine, a term of imprisonment, or both.
