Atiku, Secondus in Yobe, Borno, accuse INEC of plot to use IDP camps to rig polls

National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, has raised an alarm that the creation of voting centres in IDP camps in the North East is a ploy to rig the forthcoming election in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This comes as Secondus said that the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, will end insurgency in the North East immediately he is sworn in as president.

He spoke on Wednesday at PDP presidential campaign rallies in the North East states of Yobe and Borno.

He also urged the people to vote and ensure that their votes are protected and counted.

Secondus also promised that if elected, Atiku’s administration will not be run by a cabal.

“We will continue to hammer on this point because people believe – and we are convinced – that INEC plans for Yobe and Borno is to use IDPs camps to write results and submit to INEC. And that is why INEC doesn’t want electronically transmitted results but manually transmitted results, so that they can rewrite the results against the will of the people.

“It will not work, we will not accept it, we will reject it. The will of the people must prevail. All of you must come out on Election Day and stand firm. Don’t allow them to cheat you, don’t allow them to steal your votes.

“We have the best candidates, the most competent candidate today in Nigeria. The man that has been tried. The man that has been tried on the private sector and also in the public sector. He is full of energy. He is going to work for you for 24 hours. He will not let you down. “He will not outsource the Presidency. He will not rule by cabal. He will be the commander-in-chief who will come to stop the insurgency in the North East. He will stop it the very moment he is sworn in as the Commander-in-Chief because he will take charge.

“He will create employment across this nation, especially for our teeming youths. He has done it before even in the private sector, public sector. And so, you have the President that is cutting across the nation. All the polls have agreed that Atiku Abubakar is winning. They cannot rig him out,” he said.

He also accused the governing APC of politicising the posting of policemen to their choice areas ahead of the elections.

“We want to let the entire country to know that APC and their leadership are now ready to rig this election. They cannot rig this election. They confirmed yesterday (Tuesday) that they would rig the election at Ekiti rally. But Nigerians will reject them. Any rigged election would be rejected by the PDP and the entire country.

“We want to let the APC know that you cannot politicise the military. Stop posting police officers of your choice. You are not the Inspector General of Police. APC leadership, you cannot interfere in the posting of policemen. You must not destroy Nigerian military or police,” he added.

He urged the people to vote for the party’s candidates at both national and state elections.

On his part, Atiku cautioned security agencies to steer clear of politics.

He equally reminded the people that the North East is closest to the Presidency now than ever, charging them not to allow the opportunity to slip away.

He promised that if elected, he would bring lasting peace to the area, fix federal roads, create the enabling environment for businesses to thrive as well as massive job creation for the teeming unemployed youths.
