The Cross River State government has warned against continued encroachment on state lands, saying it is ready to apply the full weight of the law against anyone caught in the illegal act.
Fabian Okpa, special adviser to the state governor on Special Duties, stated this while reacting to series of reports of encroachment into fire service land across the state. Okpa expressed concerns about the increasing involvement of the citizens in the illegal practice, warning that government will no longer tolerate it going forward.
He also warned that those farming in lands belonging to the government will henceforth have themselves to blame as a team of officials from his office will soon embark on inspection of such areas with a view to taking appropriate action.
