World Bank partners Cross River to revitalise Primary Healthcare, donates 196 computers to digitize health sector

Ogun mobilises World Bank fund to empower 114,000 beneficiaries, 62 communities

The Cross River State Government has received 196 computers from the World Bank to digitalize the primary healthcare system in the state.

Henry Egbe Ayuk, Commissioner for Health, Cross River State, who revealed this to Bassey Otu, governor of the state, during a courtesy call by the World Bank assisted IMPACT Project Team, said that the donation was a critical activity of the World Bank Assistance to strengthen immunization and malaria services, especially among mothers and children in the state.

The commissioner, who was full of praise for the Governor for successfully bidding for the IMPACT funding, said that the project was designed by the bank to revitalize primary healthcare, improve infrastructure, enhance human resources for health, strengthen data and increase access to quality services. He assured the governor the overall objective of reducing morbidity and mortality among mothers and children would be met.

Paul Odey, project manager, IMPACT Project, reiterated the determination to ensure compliance with the standards as agreed by the state and World Bank. He told the governor that the donation of the laptops to 196 facilities would improve capacity of facilities and digitalize the health sector enhancing data management. The donation heralds the commencement of the revitalization of the primary health facilities.

The governor, while receiving the items, assured the people of the state of the strong commitment of his government to support healthcare services. He noted that he is working closely with development partners to ensure that the World Bank and others investing in healthcare get their return on investment.
