Nyesom Wike, the Peoples Democratic Party PDP National Leader has charged party candidates to be prepared to fight, if they must win elective positions in 2027
Wike, while addressing the party faithfuls at the PDP national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, on Wednesday, however, promised to support candidates who emerged from the just concluded party primaries
Wike and other leaders of the party had gathered at the party’s headquarters to review their performance and plan ahead of the forthcoming campaigns
Despite the challenges faced by the party, Wike had helped to steady the party structures to successful party Primaries.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, has also been instrumental to the recent recognition by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, ahead of the rival factions led by Tanimu Turaki
Mao Ohuabunwa, the Chairman of the Boat of Trustees, while also addressing members of the party, called on the winners and losers in the various primaries to unite behind the party to ensure success
“It is time to join hands together and move straight into action.
“As leaders, we must ensure that every member of our party feels valued and carried along. We must reach out to those who may have grievances.
“We know that in every contest where two or more people are involved, there will always be winners and those who are disappointed. However, I believe it is the responsibility of the party, and most especially the Board of Trustees, to ensure that every member of this party remains united.”
He appealed to the winners to be magnanimous in victory, by working with the losers
“There must be no victors and no vanquished”
He charged everyone to focus on the bigger task of winning elections and providing credible leadership for our people.
The Board of Trustees therefore calls on all stakeholders to close ranks, strengthen internal cohesion and place the interests of the party above personal ambitions.
“History has shown that whenever the PDP stands united, it remains an unstoppable political force.
He also urged the party to intensify the ongoing membership drive across the country, adding that” political party derives its strength from the quality, commitment and numerical strength of its members.
“Every leader at every level must become actively involved in expanding our membership base and deepening our grassroots structures.
“In the same vein, we must vigorously mobilise our members and supporters to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise.”
