Mohammed Ali Ndume, a federal lawmaker representing Borno State, has revealed the biggest mistake former President Muhammadu Buhari made while in power, making him fail as a leader.
Ndume in an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, said Buhari was not in charge of his government like President Bola Tinubu.

He said Buhari would give his aides assignments and would not bother to monitor them, which led to too many kleptocrats in his government.

Ndume said Tinubu is fully in charge.

“That is one thing with him (Tinubu). People think Tinubu is authoritative. The truth is that he takes charge, unlike our former president.

“He would just give you an assignment and not look over you. That was the mistake President Buhari made. He confessed that he had too many kleptocrats than people who genuinely showed interest,” he said.

Ndume said he knew there were so many kleptocrats in the Buhari government, saying even the former president confessed to that.

“I know there were too many kleptocrats in the Buhari government. He confessed recently. He admitted that some people took over power themselves,” he said.

He added, “But in the Tinubu government, he can’t do that. You can see what he did to his own son. During the council, he was going there. He threw him up. If it were another person, he would do nothing.”

Buhari ruled Nigeria for eight years, from 2015-2023, despite promises many Nigerians are of the view that his administration failed in all sectors.
