We will tackle oil theft in Niger Delta – Akinyelure

Chairman of the board of the Nigeria National Petroleum Limited ( NNPCL), Pius Akinyelure, on Monday assured that the board will work to put an end to incessant oil thefts in the Niger Delta region.

Akinyelure، stated this while fielding questions from State House Journalists, shortly after their inauguration by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The President inaugurated the board in compliance with Section 59 (2) of the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021.

The NNPCL Chairman said the board has assured the President ” that we will ensure that the country meets its Key Performance Indicators KPI, set for the oil industry ”

Other areas that will attract the immediate attention of the board include repairs of the refinery to ensure self-sufficiency in the supply of petroleum products

Recall that the President had recently appointed the new board which includes Mele Kyari, as Group Chief Executive Officer, Umar Ajiya, the Chief Financial Officer, and Ledum Mitee, a Non-Executive Director

Others include Musa Tumsa, Non-Executive Director, Ghali Muhammad, Non-Executive Director, Mustapha Aliyu, Non-Executive Director, David Ogbodo, Non-Executive Director

The board also includes Eunice Thomas, the only female member of the board and a Non-Executive Director.
