Two lovebirds with the names ‘Princess Okolie and Prince Atigbi’, are now in police custody over their criminal act of fake kidnapping and ransom collection, a development which has culminated in the Olufemi Abaniwonda, the Delta State Police Command issuing stern warning to parents on the upbringing of their children and wards.
Parents and guardians should take the upbringing of their children seriously and in the ways of God so that when they grow up, they won’t be a problem to their parents and society, he said.
According to Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), “The state Police command on January 2, 2025, received a complaint from One Mrs Oliko Joy that her daughter Princess Okolie left the house on 30th December 2024 and did not return.
“The next day, the parents received a call that the daughter had been kidnapped and they demanded a ransom of N2 million.
“The CP Olufemi Abaniwonda immediately directed the command’s Special Anti-kidnapping and Cyber-crime Squad to ensure that the victim is rescued unhurt and the suspect arrested.
“The commander special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber-Crime Squad CSP Labe Joseph detailed operatives who embarked on an intelligence-led investigation.
“The other suspect, Prince Atigbi, was arrested after collecting a ransom of two million naira (N2,000,000).
“Upon arrest of the suspect, he stated that he was not an actual kidnapper but was playing the script of his girlfriend Princess Okolie. The girl was arrested, and she said that she faked her kidnap so that they could get money from her parents.”
Both suspects are in custody, the ransom money recovered and investigation is ongoing, Edafe revealed, as he passed on the warning handed down to parents by the CP.
