UPDATED: Trump safe after Pennsylvania rally shooting – Secret Service

Donald Trump, former United States President, was rushed off stage and to a hospital on Saturday after a possible assassination attempt at his campaign rally in Butler, Pensslyvania.

According to the US Secret Service, the rally shooting left one rally attendee dead along with the suspected assailant, while two other spectators sustained severe injuries.

The Secret Service and Trump’s spokesperson confirmed that the former president is safe and fine as he was taken to a local medical facility for checkup. One person has been taken into custody for the shooting.

“An incident occurred the evening of July 13 at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania. The Secret Service has implemented protective measures and the former President is safe. This is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be released when available,” Anthony Guglielmi, spokesman for the US Secret Service wrote on X.

Commenting shortly after the incident Trump said a bullet pierced his right ear.

“I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening,” Trump said on social media platform, Truth.

He thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting.

“Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead,” he said.

Donald Trump was rushed off the stage after loud noises sounded like gunshots erupted at his rally in Butler, Pensslyvania. The former president had blood on his face and ear and was escorted into a vehicle by Secret Service agents.

According to reports, the scene caused screams among the audience.

Biden condemns shooting at Trump’s rally

Joe Biden the, US president has condemned the shooting that saw Trump rushed off the stage and to a hospital during his rally in Butler, Pensslyvania.

“I have been briefed on the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania,” Biden wrote on X.

“I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information.

“Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.”
