President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to declare the fifth edition of the Nigeria Police Force Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers open.

The event, slated for Monday, February 24, to Wednesday, February 26, 2025, will be held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and will provide a platform for senior police officers to evaluate the Force’s internal security strategies and explore innovative methods to enhance Nigeria’s security framework.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, announced this during a press briefing on Friday, emphasizing the event’s importance in shaping the future of policing in Nigeria.

He noted that since its inaugural edition in Lagos in October 2019, the conference has evolved into a crucial annual gathering for police managers at the rank of Commissioner and above.

Themed “Improving Nigeria’s Internal Security and Economic Prosperity Through Inclusive Policing,” this year’s conference aims to highlight the critical role of community-based policing in driving both security and economic growth.

He added that it will bring together top police leaders, experts, and policymakers to strategize on innovative approaches to law enforcement and public safety.

Tinubu will declare the conference open during the official ceremony on February 24 at 10:00 am.

Expected at the event include the Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, State Governors, the National Security Adviser, ministers, legislators, the Chief of Defence Staff, and other key security stakeholders. The conference will also host participants from across Africa and beyond, underlining its international relevance.

Reflecting on past milestones, Adejobi noted that the previous edition featured INTERPOL President Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, who emphasized Nigeria’s pivotal role in global security and reaffirmed INTERPOL’s commitment to strengthening ties with the country.

This year’s event underscores Kayode  Egbetokun’s,  Inspector-General of Police, IGP’s vision of transforming the Force into a professional, people-oriented institution that supports the Federal Government’s development agenda.

According to Adejobi, the conference will serve as a platform for peer reviews, knowledge exchange, and the implementation of innovative security solutions tailored to Nigeria’s unique challenges.
