David Umahi, Minister of Works, has described President Bola Tinubu, as “the Biafra Ndigbo have been looking for,” citing what he called the President’s deliberate integration of the South-East into national politics, through strategic appointments and massive infrastructure development.

Umahi made the remarks at Umunaga Ward in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area, during the APC presidential primary election, where party members gathered to endorse President Bola Tinubu, as the party’s candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

According to the minister, President Tinubu has shown unprecedented commitment to the South-East, by appointing prominent Igbo sons and daughters into key positions in government, while also executing critical infrastructure projects across the region.

“Bola Tinubu is the Biafra we have been looking for. A man, who has integrated the entire South-East, given us juicy appointments and important infrastructure,”  Umahi declared before party faithful and APC leaders at the primary.

David Umahi further defended the economic reforms, introduced by the President Tinubu-led administration, admitting that Nigerians initially experienced hardship, but insisting that the policies had stabilized the nation’s economy and prevented a deeper crisis.

“I laugh when people talk about the hardship caused by the reforms. Nobody has been able to say where Nigeria would have been without them,” Umahi stated.

Umahi, former Ebonyi State Governor, maintained that the country had already passed through its most difficult economic phase, expressing optimism that the benefits of the reforms, would soon be felt by ordinary Nigerians at the grassroots.

“The macroeconomy is stable and the President is now taking it down to the microeconomy. The worst is over and Nigerians will soon begin to see the benefits,” Umahi added.

Umahi also commended the Federal Government’s ongoing road and bridge projects across the country, describing them as evidence that the President Tinubu administration was rebuilding critical national infrastructure and reconnecting neglected regions.

On insecurity, Umahi expressed confidence that President Tinubu, will completely tackle Nigeria’s security challenges within the next 4-years if re-elected in 2027.

The minister and former senator noted that the turnout of 5,009 APC members during the ward primary reflected the people’s trust and confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership.

Describing Ebonyi State, as a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress, Umahi insisted that the people of Ohaozara Local Government Area remained fully loyal to the ruling party.

“Ebonyi State is totally APC. We are only APC,” David Umahi declared, adding that there is no opposition political party in the area.
