These 9 African countries had zero deportations from the U.S. in 2024

Nine African countries recorded no deportations from the United States in 2024, reflecting unique migration patterns influenced by diplomatic relations, low emigration rates, and internal policies.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported that as of November 24, 2024, there were 1,445,549 noncitizens with final removal orders. The United States removed 271,484 individuals to 192 countries in 2024, including 88,763 with criminal charges or convictions, 3,706 suspected gang members, 237 suspected terrorists, and eight human rights violators.

Despite some countries having no deportations in 2024, several have seen an increase in individuals listed for removal in 2025. Lesotho and South Sudan have 136 individuals set for deportation, followed by Djibouti with 29, Mauritius with 15, and Lesotho with 11.

The U.S. government continues to focus on immigration enforcement, with plans for large-scale deportations. Donald Trump, advocating an America-first approach, has indicated a stronger stance on immigration policies if re-elected. The figures highlight migration trends across African nations, with some maintaining low removal rates while others experience an increase in individuals targeted for deportation.

According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, here are 9 African countries that had zero deportations from the U.S. in 2024

1. Comoros

Comoros, a small island nation in the Indian Ocean, recorded no deportations in 2024. The country’s limited migration to the United States and its diplomatic relations contribute to this status.

2. Djibouti

Djibouti, located in the Horn of Africa, also had no reported removals this year. Its migration patterns indicate fewer citizens seeking residence in the U.S., reducing cases of deportation.
