The Information boss, who pledged the commitment of his ministry to give the Police needed support and furnish them with useful information, urged Abians to disregard the growing rumour that people’s genitals were being stolen.
He advised the people of Abia to report any case of missing genitals to any nearby police station for investigations instead of taking laws into their hands.
Earlier in his speech, the Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, who described information as being strategic to governance, stressed the need for a partnership between the Police and ministry of Information towards ensuring that goals and interests of the people of Abia are met.
Onwuemelie noted that the collaboration had become pertinent in a bid to ensure that information was deployed in line with the vision of the Governor Alex Otti-led government.

While expressing dismay at the rate fake news such as reports on missing genitals fly about, Onwuemelie said it was worrisome that things like that still happen in the country.
The Police Commissioner who described as barbaric the act of civilised persons taking laws into their hands, pointed out that most people leverage on that to unduly visit terror or victimise their enemies.
Lending his voice, the Acting Director General of Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State (BCA), Hyacinth Okoli, noted that these days where fake news spread easily, it was pertinent to join hands to ensure maximum security in the state.
