FUOYE

The National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS) and the Students Union of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) have stated that Oni Olalekan, a student of the varsity alleged to have raped his male colleague is not a member of either association.

NOASS, in a statement, said that Olalekan, popularly known as Asiwaju, is not a member, an executive, or an appointee of the association.

“We would like to clarify that this individual is not a member of our association nor has any affiliation with us.

“It is important to ensure that this distinction is clear to the general public and that any misinformation is addressed promptly,” it added while calling on members of the public with the necessary information to reach out to the association board.

“Let’s continue to uphold our values and principles as we strive for a respectful and supportive community within our association,” it said.

On its part, FUOYE Student Union, in a communique signed by Ebo Timilehin, President; Akinwande Olusegun, General Secretary; and Omotayo Tolulope, Public Relations Officer, said Asiwaju is not a member of the Students Union Government nor is he an appointee of the Students’ Union Government.

It further stated that any claims or assumptions to the contrary are incorrect and urged the public to disregard any misinformation.

“Please be assured that the FUOYESUG is actively addressing this matter and will take all necessary actions to ensure that justice is served. Thank you,” it added.

Recall that Asiwaju, a 400-level of the institution, was accused of raping a male colleague on Monday, June 10, 2024, and has been arrested by police.

Confirming Asiwaju’s apprehension, Abutu Sunday, Ekiti State Public Relations Officer, said the investigation has commenced.
