Soludo unveils N1.4bn capital projects in Anambra

Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led Anambra State Executive Council has approved several capital projects worth N1.44 billion meant to boost infrastructure development and transformation of the State.

At the top of the list is the construction of a specialist hospital in Fegge, Onitsha South Local Government Area, valued at N679,898,015.26.

Other approved projects included erosion control at Awgbu Community in Orumba North LGA valued at N96,596,804.96; the
supply of heavy duty trucks and equipment to OCHA Brigade, costing N191,285,500; supply and installation of machines and equipment to retool Anambra State Hydroform and Concrete Agency at N472,991,789.26.

The State Executive Council also approved the creation of a “One Million Tribe” of young tech experts to position the State as the digital capital of Nigeria.

Additionally, the Council approved the establishment of a Public Community Private Partnership (PCPP) platform to enable Ndi Anambra in Diaspora and within the Country to contribute to community development efforts
Meanwhile, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has inaugurated the State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) to democratise local government system in the State.

BusinessDay reports that members of the State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) are Chinelo Genevieve Osakwe, a Magistrate as Chairman; Bernadine Obande, Osita Cyril Igbokwe, Chinedu Anthony Nnalue, Helen Ifeyinwa Umeh and John Emeka Okeke as members.

Inaugurating members of the Commission, Governor Soludo urged them to render nothing short of sterling service to people of the State.

He gave the members terms of reference which included to organize, undertake and supervise all elections and matters pertaining to elections to the elective offices in the local government councils in the State, among others.
