Senate’ll not pass hate speech, social media bills, if rejected by Nigerians – Lawan

Ahmed Lawan
President of the Senate,  Ahmad Lawan has said the Upper Chamber will not pass the hate speech and social media bills,  if they are rejected by Nigerians.
Lawan stated this on Monday during a luncheon and media briefing with newsmen in Abuja.
It has become clearer that the hate speech bill may have died naturally, by the Senate president throwing it’s a passage to Nigerians – most of who are obviously against it.
Lawan said the 9th Senate holds the interest of Nigerians supreme and would not in any way do anything that can derail or undermine it.
However,  he assured that a public hearing on the bills will be conducted to allow Nigerians to present their perspectives and submit their inputs on the bills.
