Senate confirms Aminu Maida as NCC Executive Vice Chairman

The Senate has confirmed Aminu Maida as the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC).

The confirmation followed the presentation and adoption of the report of the Committee on Communication by the Chairman, Bilbis Ikra (APC-Zamfara) at the Committee of the Whole on Thursday.

During the presentation of the report, Ikra urged the Senate to consider the request of President Bola Tinubu for the confirmation of Maida’s appointment as the NCC Chairman, as stipulated by Section 8 (1) of the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) Establishment Act, 2003.

The Senate Committee had screened Maida and confirmed that he had passed all required security clearances, and possessed the necessary qualifications, professional experience, competence, and regulatory capacity to ensure the success of the NCC.

As a result, the Senate approved the nomination of Aminu Maida as the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC.
