Horror, evil and crimes are taking place in Port Harcourt but the one that left Dorothy Opus panting on February 12, 2025, seems to be beyond comprehension.

The woman who hails from Okrika in Rivers State was heavily pregnant such that many knew she was due. It appears criminals also knew.

Next, on February 7, she disappeared into thin air, leading to a massive hunt and search. Her photograph was everywhere on the internet, raising alarm over how a heavily pregnant woman could disappear in a society where heavily pregnant women receive the care and support of everyone.

To the surprise of family and friends, she was found lying on the cold tarred road at a place called The Young Junction in Elelenwo along Akpajo Road. She was no longer pregnant. It was obvious that she was forcefully delivered of her baby which must have been stolen.

The scary incident opened new fears in the Garden City where babies have been under intense threat of kidnappers and killers and child traffickers.

Gory tales have been spreading about families being swept of all their young ones at a go. Trickers use gifts to distract the attention of minders to take away all the children under their care.

Now, it seems to be about capturing pregnant women and forcing their babies out.

Opus is yet to give details of her travails and how she was made to give birth in the location whether drugged or forced.

There has not been any public statement by either the police or the state welfare department over the matter as at the time of filing this report but families are said to be taking precautionary measures over their pregnant wives and little babies.
