Police unveil officer who shot man dead during fuel purchase in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has revealed the police officer who on Wednesday shot a man identified as Toheeb Eniafe dead at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) in Obalende area of the state.

BusinessDay reported earlier that pandemonium struck in Obalende area after Eniafe was feared dead.

The fracas started over fuel purchase at the NNPCL filling station in the area.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police public relations officer, on Thursday, announced that the officer serves at Special Protection Unit, Base 17, Lion Building, Lagos.

He added that investigation is ongoing relating to the incident.

“The person behind the shooting has been identified as a police officer serving at Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 17, Lion Building, Lagos.

“Investigation is still ongoing and further findings will be made available.

“Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command is working with the family of the deceased to ensure that there is no miscarriage of justice,” he said.
