Operatives of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Special Squad have apprehended two suspects connected to the kidnapping of the wife of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.
This follows a directive from Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector-General of Police, to track down the fleeing suspects involved in the crime.
The suspects, identified as Agbojule Smart, 27-year-old and Keleke Michael, 30-year-old were arrested in the early hours of Friday, January 24, 2025, while attempting to flee Lagos State.
A statement signed by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, disclosed that the suspects confessed to being part of a four-member gang responsible for the abduction.

According to the statement, two members of the gang had previously been neutralized during police operations.
“Items recovered during the arrest include N2.25 million, part of the ransom collected, two locally fabricated rifles, and 11 live cartridges”, the statement reads.
The Inspector-General of Police commended the operatives for their swift and effective action, urging them to sustain their high level of professionalism in combating crime across the country.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens, pledging continued efforts to reduce crime and establish lasting peace nationwide.
