The Borno State Police Command has announced temporary road closures and diversions of traffic as part of security measures ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu state visit to the Maiduguri, the Borno State capital on Saturday.

Naziru Abdulmajid, the State Commissioner of Police, said the command has put in place every security arrangement involving regular police personnel, tactical teams, surveillance units.

The police also deployed crowd control officers and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units to ensure safety during the visit.

In a statement issued by Nahum Kenneth Daso, spokesman of the police, said some roads within Maiduguri may experience temporary restrictions or diversions to enable the movement of official convoys.

The affected routes include the parallel road linking Airport road to Shehuri road.

Residents and motorists were advised to cooperate with security personnel and comply with lawful instructions during the period.

The police command assured residents of the protection of lives and property before, during and after the presidential visit and called on the public to remain vigilant.

Members of the public were also urged to report any suspicious movement or security-related concerns to the nearest police station or through the emergency numbers 0806 807 5581 and 0802 347 3293.
