Police Commission wants kidnapping tackled as IGP tasks Police on discipline

The Police Service Commission (PSC) reminded the newly trained Police constables of their crucial role in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges, particularly the growing menace of kidnapping.

In Plateau State, where 616 constables graduated, Hashimu Argungu, a retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police and the PSC chairman, represented by Paul Galumje, urged the recruits to be vigilant and dedicated in the fight against crimes plaguing the nation.

Argungu expressed PSC’s pride in the constables for successfully completing their rigorous training and officially joining the Nigeria Police Force. He commended their efforts and emphasized that they are now part of the nation’s internal security framework, with the critical task of ensuring the safety of lives and properties across the country.

“The Government and the Police Service Commission are committed to ensuring that your career progression is seamless and within established rules. We expect you to uphold the dignity of your office as constables, and be prepared to meet the challenges of tackling armed robbery, banditry, terrorism, and most importantly, kidnapping”, he said.

Similarly in Kwara State, Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), has urged newly recruited police constables to uphold the rule of law, remain resilient, and contribute to building a safer and more secure Nigeria for all.

Egbetokun stated this while delivering his speech at the passing-out parade for the 2022 intake recruit constables, held at the Police Training School, Ilorin, Kwara State.

The IGP noted that the event marked the successful completion of a rigorous journey undertaken by 587 recruits at the Police Training School, Ilorin, which is part of the 10,000 recruits trained nationwide across various police training institutions.

“I urge our newest police constables to remain steadfast, uphold the rule of law, and commit to the values of courage, fairness, and professionalism,” Egbetokun said.
