Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested a 32-year-old man suspected of attempting to procure ammunition for bandits operating in Zamfara State.
The suspect, identified as Ahmed Abubakar, was picked up by officers of the Command’s Tactical Team at about 3:30 p.m. on December 7, 2025, following what police described as “credible intelligence.”
Abubakar, originally from Gusau but residing in Anguwan Dodo, Gwagwalada, was allegedly working with associates in the North-West to supply ammunition to criminal groups.
According to a statement on Wednesday by Josephine Adeh, FCT Police spokesperson, Abubakar had been in contact with another suspect, Yusuf Mohammed, as part of a plan to purchase 1,000 rounds of ammunition intended for bandits.
The Command also said that further findings also linked the operation to Abubakar’s uncle, Ahmed Yakubu, who police say is a key accomplice and is currently on the run.
“Investigators believe the uncle sent Abubakar to source and transport the ammunition to Zamfara, where bandit groups continue to terrorise rural communities”, the statement said.

It also urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious behaviour using the Command’s emergency lines: 0803 200 3913, 0806 158 1938, and 0902 222 2352.
